I started making soap in 2013 after learning about the possible side effects and health concerns that come with commercial soaps and body washes. I wanted to create bath products that didn't irritate my son's eczema or trigger my husband's allergies. I fell in love with the art and have continued to create effective and skin nourishing soaps using natural plant and animal oils, organically grown herbs and pthalate free fragrance.
I am committed to being a lifelong student, always studying herbalism, mycology, biology, botany, and nutrition. I am always learning new techniques and formulas and expanding my knowledge in natural skincare.
Sacred Acres Studio, formerly Harmony Holler Homestead, is a small farm owned by Russell & Angela Perkinson, located in Central Virginia. We put our focus on treating our land with respect, never using harmful sprays or other non-organic substances.
Outside of growing vegetables, herbs and flowers here on the farm we are surrounded by a beautiful pristine 6,500+ acre state forest where we spend much of our time foraging, wildcrafting and intimately studying nature.
We believe creativity cannot be contained and our little farm has grown into much more than a humble homestead over the years so in 2021 we decided to change the name. We cherish this little acreage that we have poured our hearts and souls into, which is why the name Sacred Acres felt so right. Because we create and co-create so many things here Studio also seemed fitting. We are more than plants, herbs and animals. We create art, music, herbal formulations, soaps, salves, balms, and whatever else we desire and then we share it with you!
United Plant Savers’ mission is to protect native medicinal plants of the United States and Canada and their native habitat while ensuring an abundant renewable supply of medicinal plants for generations to come.
These Are Exciting Times for Herbalists. We are witnessing the art of herbalism rapidly regaining its rightful place in the American tradition of health and healing. However, as herbalism flourishes and winds its way into the “mainstream” of America, it is eliciting a unique set of problems and concerns.
Where once herbal enterprises were few and far between, it is now a competitive marketplace which has increased the demand on wild medicinal plant resources. Furthermore, other countries with an uninterrupted tradition of herbalism are experiencing a severe shortage of medicinal plants and look to the North American continent for supplying these herbs. This increased usage along with habitat destruction is causing an ever-increasing shortage of wild plant resources, including some of our most treasured medicinal species.
The work of United Plant Savers involves research, education, and conservation of native medicinal plants and their habitats. We hope that you will join us in this worthwhile and important mission. UpS is a 501 (C)3 non-profit organization. - from UnitedPlantSavers.org
